Little Acro EDF
The Little Acro EDF is a small, aerobatic glider that fits in
every car-trunc. It is powered by a 50 mm EDF.
It is based on the Little Acro.
- Wingspan: ca 1200 mm
- Length of the fuselage: ca 720 mm
- Take-off weight: ca 650 gr
- Drive: EDF diameter 50 mm
- Battery: LIPO 3S 1500 mAh
- Control: Elevator (pendulum-elevator) / rudder / aileron (flaperon +-15°) / motor
- Center of gravity: ca. 35 mm behind the profile nose near the fuselage
- Deflections: 20-30° (Elevator 10-15°)
The Little Acro EDF is not a beginner's model. Since the model is quite fast
and, due to the impeller drive, also has a higher wing load than the Little Acro, flight experience with
aileron models is important.
You should be able to land a model safely, because the landing speed is also higher than with the Little
Acro.
However, the construction is uncomplicated. Once all the parts have been printed out, the model can be
assembled by a practiced model maker in 15 to 20 hours.
The total printing time is about 80 to 100 hours.
When taking off, the ailerons, which also function as flaps, should be set approximately
5-10° downwards. This prevents sagging after release.
When landing, the flaps should be set approximately 15° downwards. This ensures a
noticeably lower landing speed.
When designing and printing the parts for my RC flight models, I use PrusaSlicer, which can be downloaded from https://www.prusa3d.de/prusaslicer/, to realize special desired properties
for 3D printed parts. These properties (e.g. adhesive surfaces or internal support structures) cannot be
achieved at all or only with great difficulty using a CAD program alone.
I use modifiers in Prusaslicer, which are essential for building this glider. For this reason I
do not provide stl-files, but 3mf-files for download. If you still need stl files, here (Video:
Extract
stl-files out of 3mf-files) you will find a link on how stl files can be exported in
PrusaSlicer.
